NOTES
TWO MULES FOR SISTER SARA It is a traditional, action packed western yarn starring Clint Eastwood and directed by Don Siegel: Eastwood is a drifter who picks up a nun (Shirley MacLaine) in the desert and finds himself drawn into a local war of liberation in Mexico. Morricone's outstanding music is in the same vein of the renowned scores for Sergio Leone.
DAYS OF HEAVEN Masterly directed by irregular Terrence Malick and starring Richard Gere, Sam Shepard and Brooke Adams, tells about young Bill, who decides to leave Chicago - where he's working in a steel mill - taking his girl and his sister with him to Texas, where they'll work in the wheat fields at harvest time: that's the beginning of an idyllic year that doomed to end in tragedy. The score by Morricone is between his most lyric and appreciated ones, and deservedly so.
