NOTES
Charles Bronson gives a memorable performance as Paul Kersey, a mild-mannered New York businessman moved to violence when his daughter is savagely raped and his wife killed by sleazy muggers: the revenge will turn him into a ruthless vigilante on N.Y.C. streets. This controversial 1974 movie, directed by Michael Winner and also starring Hope Lange, Vincent Gardenia and Jeff Goldblum in his film debut, features an innovative and effective score by famed keyboardist and composer Herbie Hancock, whose outstanding musical effort for this film is praised even by fussy critic Leonard Maltin in his authoritative ""Movie & Video Guide"". The dramatic score, halfway between jazz and light-symphonic music, is on CD for the very first time.
