NOTES
I TRE VOLTI DELLA PAURA Shot in 1963 by Italian master of horror Mario Bava and starring Boris Karloff, Mark Damon and Susy Andersen, BLACK SABBATH (I tre volti della paura) is split in three episodes, The Telephone, Wurdalak, The Drop of Water, ranging from gothic to parapsychologic up to pure thriller, and having the 'sense of fear' as a common thread. The music written by the not-so-famous and underrated composer Roberto Nicolosi brilliantly captures the uneven mood of each episode, ranging at its turn from old-fashioned symphonic language to more modern, urban jungle eerie moods.
IL ROSSO SEGNO DELLA FOLLIA Excellent musical results are achieved by the richly melodic score composed by Sante Romitelli for HATCHET FOR THE HONEYMOON (IL ROSSO SEGNO DELLA FOLLIA, directed by Mario Bava in 1969), a Psycho-like thriller dealing with a mentally disturbed and impotent man who serial-kills women to relive his mother's murder.
