ED ORA RACCOMANDA L’ANIMA A DIO!

Digitmovies pubblica su CD, per la prima volta assoluta in edizione completa, la OST di Franco Bixio per il film western “Ed ora… raccomanda l’anima a dio!” (“And now... make your peace with god”).

LA COLONNA SONORA

Franco Bixio, allora appena diciottenne, ha composto una OST acustica affidata ad un organico ridotto, arrangiata e diretta da Vince Tempera, con le sonorità tipiche del periodo beat. Il tema principale “Like a coward”, cantato da Mary Ushua, si ascolta nei titoli di coda del film e fu pubblicato sul singolo Cinevox SC 1060, insieme al brano “Una diligenza a Tombstone”. Franco Bixio riprende il main theme con differenti versioni strumentali, talvolta lento e veloce, alternandolo ad un delicato tema d’amore che emerge tra numerose atmosfere di tensione e di violenza. Non manca musica per il Saloon in versione strumentale e cantata. Per questo nostro CD, abbiamo potuto usare i master mono della Recording Session originale e il master mono del 45 giri originale, ma purtroppo i Titoli di testa, versione strumentale di “Just a coward”, sono andati irrimediabilmente perduti, quindi per un fattore storico ed artistico abbiamo deciso di riprenderli dall’audio del film che aveva un mix di spari e di cavalli.

LA TRAMA

Durante il viaggio verso Denwer City, una diligenza viene attaccata dai banditi. Sul mezzo si trovano tra i passeggeri: Stanley, un uomo intenzionato a ritornare nella città per riprendersi l'eredità intascata da un parente che in passato gli aveva ucciso i genitori, e Steve, desideroso di ritrovare l'oro, frutto del suo duro lavoro di cinque anni, rubatogli da banditi sconosciuti, ma dei quali ricorda le voci. Dopo l'intervento di un cow-boy chiamato Sanders che li salva, i tre uomini diventano amici promettendosi di aiutarsi a vicenda. Dopo varie avventure Steve riesce a rintracciare e punire i malviventi che l'avevano derubato, mentre Stanley, smascherato il cattivo parente, lo uccide.

 

Digitmovies is releasing on CD, for the very first time in full edition, Franco Bizio’s western movie “And now... make your peace with god” OST.

THE SOUNDTRACK

Franco Bixio, at the time an eighteen years old boy, composed an acustic OST with a smaller team, arranged and directed by Vince Tempera, with tipical Beat sonorities. Main theme “Like a coward”, performed by Mary Ushua, lays among the end credits and was published on Cinevox SC 1060 single, together with the track “Una diligenza a Tombstone”. Franco Bixio retakes the main theme with several instrumental versions, occasionally slow and fast, alternating it with a delicate love theme that stands in tense and violent atmospheres. Also, Saloon music figures both in instrumental and sung versions. For this CD of ours we were able to use the original Recording Session’s mono masters as well as the original single’s mono master. Unfortunately though, the opening credits, instrumental version of “Just a coward”, were beyond repair lost. So, for historical and artistic reasons, we decided to take them from the audio of the film, which had a mix of gunfires and horses.

PLOT

During a trip to Denver City a stage coach is attacked by a group of bandits. On the coach there are the passengers Stanley, a man heading back to the city to take back the inheritance stolen by a relative who formely killed his parents and Steve, longing to find the gold earned during a five-years-long hard work, which was robbed by unknown bandits of whom he still remembers the voices. After the intervention of a cowboy named Sanders, who saves them, the three men become friends and promise to help each other. After several adventures Steve manages to find and punish the bandits that robbed him, while Stanley kills the naughty relative.
