OSS 117: LE CAIRE, NID D'ESPIONS / OSS 117: RIO NE REPOND PLUS

Japanese CD release! Two original soundtracks to the spy comedy series from Academy AwardR-winning director Michel Azanavicius (The Artist) and star Jean Dujardin is now available on one CD!

The low-budget but hugely popular 2017 Japanese film "ONE CUT OF THE DEAD" was remade by Michel Azanavicius, who won an Academy Award for "The Artist"! The "OSS 117" series made Michel Azanavicius a popular director.

Just as Daniel Craig's first film as the new James Bond, "Casino Royale," was set to be released in 2006 and was becoming a worldwide sensation, Azanavicius revived the spy series "OSS 117," or Hubert Bonisseur, of which France is proud. Jean Dujardin was cast as Hubert Bonisseur.

Even though the film was made in the 2000s, it has plenty of the feel of an old movie and pays homage to Azanavicius' 60s spy films.

The music, too, is full of homage and respect. Arrangements in the style of John Barry from "007" and melodies in the style of Burt Bacharach. The music, which also evokes Lalo Schifrin and Neal Hefti, was composed by Ludovic Boulez, who won the Academy Award for Best Original Score and the Golden Globe for "The Artist".
