Profumo Di Donna (Colonna Sonora Originale Del Film)

Introducing the second release from our Heritage Series, “Profumo di Donna” (aka “Scent of a Woman”) is one of Armando Trovajoli’s powerhouses, score to the timeless film by Dino Risi first showcased at the 1975 Cannes FIlm Festival, where leading character Vittorio Gassman was crowned with the Best Actor Award for his colossal and intense performance.

The soundtrack composed by Trovajoli is a masterpiece of dramatic music writing, capable of combining his great passion for jazz with the necessity for a distinctive melancholic and touching theme splendidly arranged for a big orchestra. However, the score also offers the Maestro’s forays into disco, with tracks rich in strings and groove that could well belong to a Barry White’s album.

The icing on the cake, though, is the hit song “Che Vuole Questa Musica Stasera”, an exquisitely charming, moving, and decadent ballad interpreted by Peppino Gagliardi and also included by Guy Ritchie in his film “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” (2015), in “Lo Spietato” (aka “The Ruthless”) (2019) by @renatodemaria, and in “Welcome Home” (2018) by George Ratliff.

The album, fully remastered from the original master tapes from the CAM Sugar archive, will be available on 180gr LP featuring one track previously unreleased on vinyl, on CD boasting 7 extra unreleased cuts, and on all digital platforms.

Dopo il debutto di Amarcord, Profumo di Donna è il secondo capitolo della collana Heritage di CAM Sugar, dedicato ai classici del cinema Italiano. Il film da cui è tratta la colonna sonora fu diretto da Dino Risi e debuttò al Festival Di Cannes nel 1975, dove vinse a Vittorio Gassman il premio come miglior interprete. L’anno successivo, Profumo Di Donna fu nominato agli Oscar come Miglior Film Straniero e Miglior Sceneggiatura.
Tale fu il successo della pellicola e la sua consacrazione culturale che nel 1992 fu girato un remake (Scent of A Woman), con protagonista Al Pacino, che vinse il premio oscar come Miglior Attore.
La colonna sonora firmata Armando Trovajoli è un capolavoro drammatico, con note tipicamente Jazz (Those Lazy Days) e grandi classici d’orchestra (In The Dark), senza dimenticare le forti influenze folk, jazz e disco come la title track (Woman’s Parfume)
Il tema “Che Vuole Questa Musica Stasera”, una decadente ballata interpretata da Peppino Gagliardi, è stata riproposta da Guy Ritchie nel suo The Man From U.N.C.L.E. (2015).
Oggi l’album è stato interamente rimasterizzato e remixato dai nastri originali, è disponibile in digitale, in LP contenente un inedito e in CD che include 8 tracce mai pubblicate.
