Diretto da Sergio Leone, “Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo” è l’ultimo capitolo della celebre “trilogia del dollaro” e uno dei film più iconici della storia del cinema. In sequenze come il duello finale nel cimitero di Sad Hill (sulle note di “L’estasi dell’oro”), il montaggio visivo e quello musicale si fondono in un’unica partitura epica. Morricone qui non fa solo il compositore: è co-regista emotivo.

L’estasi dell’oro, con la sua progressione ascendente e l’orchestrazione grandiosa, è uno dei vertici della musica da film mondiale. Non a caso è stata reinterpretata da artisti come i Metallica e usata in decine di spot e altri film.
